| Foot problems are becoming an increasing burden in society today. There are so many factors working to increase the number of foot problem:
1. The obesity epidemic is increasing the weight and burden on the foot, as well as increasing the number other health problems that have complications in the foot such as osteoarthritis and diabetes mellitus
2. Foot problems are more common in older populations and the mean age of the population is getting older. This will significantly increase the number of foot problems.
3. Fuelled by the obesity epidemic is the diabetes epidemic. Those with diabetes have a significant burden when it comes to foot and lower limb complications due to the neuropathy and poor circulation issues that they have.
